Academic Frameworks

We offer multiple academic frameworks to meet the diverse educational needs and goals of our students: diploma framework, vocational framework, hybrid framework, and functional framework. We collaborate with parents to identify the most effective approach for your student with some flexibility as your child progresses.

Diploma Framework

The Diploma Framework is meticulously aligned with the Florida Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) standards. These standards provide a clear scope and sequence for the year.

Teachers build on these standards with individualized lesson plans and effective instructional strategies so that each student makes meaningful progress.

Our customized curriculum incorporates a variety of cutting-edge learning platforms based on each student’s learning style and skills. Student progress is assessed continuously to identify areas of strength as well as opportunities for growth, ensuring that students remain on track to meet their educational objectives.

Vocational Framework

Our Vocational Framework curriculum helps students gain practical, real-world competencies needed for workforce readiness and independent living. Students participate in interactive, engaging courses that teach essential life and vocational skills through real-world experiences.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Personal Effectiveness: Time management, scheduling, organization, and goal setting

  • Career Exploration: Identifying career interests and developing prerequisite job skills, including the ability to navigate the job market

  • Learning with Technology: Safe and effective use of technological tools (such as phones and tablets) and digital platforms

  • Community Living: Navigating local environments safely and confidently

  • Independent Living: Mastering essential daily living skills for a self-sufficient adulthood

Hybrid (Diploma + Vocational) Framework

This integrated approach enables students to engage in a rigorous academic curriculum aligned with Florida’s B.E.S.T. standards while also developing essential vocational and life skills.

Whether their future involves pursuing a diploma, entering the workforce or a combination of both, our tailored support ensures they are prepared for success.

Functional Framework

Our Functional Framework is ideal for students seeking practical, real-world competencies crucial for everyday independence and success. The curriculum emphasizes essential life skills—including budgeting, cooking, effective communication, self-management, workplace etiquette—and functional academics.

Through hands-on learning experiences designed to mirror real-life settings, students build both practical skills and confidence while working toward a Certificate of Completion.

In our individualized and supportive learning environment, students build a strong foundation for greater autonomy and a successful transition to adulthood.
