The Infinity Model

The Infinity Model is a truly therapeutic educational approach designed to integrate therapy into every aspect of a student's school day to help students achieve goals faster. We offer individual therapy sessions to address individual student’s goals, and we also seamlessly infuse therapy throughout academic classes, enrichment activities and leisure times. This approach ensures that therapy isn't just an add-on, but a continuous, integrated part of the student experience.

Transdisciplinary Collaboration

A hallmark of the Infinity Model is its transdisciplinary approach, where teachers and therapists work together as a cohesive team. Collaboration occurs on a daily basis to ensure consistency in strategies, goals and interventions. All disciplines (behavior analysts, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists and educators) share a unified vision, actively engaging in meetings and planning sessions to guarantee that students receive cohesive, coordinated support. This collaborative effort enables constant alignment across all areas of the student’s day, ensuring that each therapeutic goal is addressed within every learning context.

For example:

  • The BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) trains all staff to implement behavior plans consistently across all settings, promoting behavior change and skill acquisition in real time.

  • The OT (Occupational Therapist) pushes into classrooms and provides training to staff during collaboration meetings, focusing on fine motor development and self-regulation skills throughout the day.

  • The SLP (Speech-Language Pathologist) supports communication and pragmatic goals by working within classrooms, providing direct support and training to staff, and ensuring that students' communication needs are met in every environment.

Individualized Programs and Curriculum

The Infinity Model places a strong emphasis on individual goals and curriculum customized for each student. Assessment is not based solely on developmental stages but instead is rooted in a comprehensive evaluation of the student's existing abilities. Through careful assessment, we identify “splinter skills”—which are specific skills that a student may have developed but not yet fully integrated into their overall repertoire—and use these as building blocks to create a more functional and complete skill set.

The curriculum is designed with the student’s strengths and abilities at its core, which helps in targeting meaningful, age-appropriate skills. These skills are selected based on their relevance to the real world and their potential to promote independence. In doing so, we ensure that the skills taught are not only relevant for the student’s current life but will also be valuable in future settings, whether that be in the home, community or work environments.

Promoting Independence

The overarching goal of the Infinity Model is to promote independence across all areas of life. This focus spans several key areas:

Communication

Ensuring students can express themselves effectively and engage with others in meaningful ways, using both verbal and nonverbal communication strategies.

Independent-Living Skills

Teaching practical life skills that empower students to function autonomously, such as self-care, time management and decision-making.

By breaking down skills into manageable, achievable steps and providing continuous support throughout the day, the Infinity Model encourages students to take ownership of their learning, social and self-regulation goals, ultimately fostering a high level of functional independence.

Driving Student Success

The Infinity Model is a holistic, therapeutic and transdisciplinary approach to education that aims to promote independence by embedding therapeutic support throughout every aspect of the school day. By integrating the expertise of various disciplines, utilizing individualized programs, and focusing on real-world skills, the model empowers students to thrive academically, socially and personally.
